Ballito is a coastal town located in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The town has a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century, As it expands at a fast rate lets look back at the history of this town.

The area where Ballito is located was originally inhabited by the indigenous Zulu people, who called it "iLembe". The Zulus lived off the land and the sea, and they were known for their skill in agriculture, fishing, and hunting. In the early 1800s, the area was colonised by the British, who established a sugar cane plantation in the region.

The town of Ballito itself was founded in 1954 by a group of entrepreneurs who recognized the potential for tourism in the area. The town was named after an early settler, Ball, who owned a large farm in the area. Throughout the 20th century, Ballito grew as a popular vacation destination for South Africans. The town`s beautiful beaches, warm climate, and easy access to Durban and other major cities made it an ideal location for tourism.

In the 1990s, Ballito underwent a major transformation with the construction of the N2 highway, which connected the town to Durban and other parts of the province. This led to a boom in residential and commercial development, with the construction of numerous hotels, resorts, and shopping centre`s.

Today, Ballito is one of the fastest-growing towns in South Africa, with a population of over 100,000 people. It continues to be a popular vacation destination for both local and international tourists, and it is known for its beautiful beaches, world-class golf courses, and vibrant nightlife.
